Tap looks good but doesnt work properly

I bought this tap because it looked like it provided what I wanted . Heritage style , levers and gold. However when you turn the tap on it has a spray insert that sprays was out like a spray. This covers the base of the tap with water and the wooden surface . I spray attachment screws in so I removed it and now the water wanders around and still covers the work surface . Not happy and will have to buy another tap ! Grrrrrr
