Cheap iButton Probe for Hobbyist Projects Works Great

These are iButton probes, they are one piece of a working iButton system. They use a protocol called 1Wire, so you either need electronics to decode this input, or write your own. I interfaced mine with an Arduino, and used a library named "OneWire". These are DS9092-COMPATIBLE, they don't look the same as the "official" part, and have different-color wires. However they work perfectly. The LED is red, and suitably bright. Here's the information on the wires, since they aren't provided and the colors are different than the official part: Black - LED positive, I believe the LED is 2.7 volts White - LED negative Green - 1Wire power/signal (3-5v) Red - 1Wire ground Provided pictures: 1. a diagram for wiring the probe, 2. a small Arduino hobbyist project utilizing the probe, and some iButton devices.
