Sonic Excellence
As always, the TELARC label provides sonic excellence, the engineering by Robert Friedrichis top notch, Tierney's voice control is stunning as always and her band simply cannot be surpassed in this genre. Diana Krall? Diana Schmall is my opinion in comparison to this foursome (plus guests). For those not initiated, you've really been missing out. For those in the know who don't have this CD, get it. You shouldn't be disappointed. Intimite, fun, serious, and all around musical perfectionism. Still not sure? Find the Stereophile review from 2007 and read it.

OEM Tannoy Speakers
Well worth the price and better than getting an old pair re-foamed. My old PBM 6.5's now play like new, especially after replacing the capacitors in the crossovers. If you have a pair of old PBM's lying around, or can buy some beaters really cheap, refurbish them! If you can get past the fugly gray vinyl (which can be re-sprayed with vinyl paint) you'd be challenged to find better reference quality near-field studio monitors at 3 times the price of refurbishing some old ones. Hundreds of studios around the world recorded and mixed thousands of albums in the 80's and 90's using PBM 6.5's and many older engineers still swear by them (just search the web). If a mix sounds good through these near fields, it will sound good through almost anything. They also make great bookshelf speakers for casual listening or rear surrounds in a big 7.1 home theater setup. They're every bit as good as my $550 Axiom M3-V2's, but if you can find (and have space for) Tannoy PBM 8's, they're still the best bang for the buck around for the studio on a budget. (6.5's lack the bass extension of the 8's)
