Progen Adjustable Home Mechanic Bike Bicycle Cycle Workstand Repair Stand work

The Home Mechanic's Friend
I was a little sceptical about whether something so inexpensive would be any good.
I was more than pleasantly surprised by this stand.
I set it up outside, as its leg span, with stabiliser feet down, is quite large. The stand fits together very quickly and easily. The clamp jaws are big and well padded and have a very good grip.
The moment of truth - hoisting my mountain bike into the clamp.
Absolutely solid. The bike is held firmly at the seat tube and I can potter about with it with no signs of wobble.
The stand doesn't fold down, but the legs telescope back, so easy enough to pop in a corner of your shed until next time.
There may be even more sturdy and rugged stands out there, but for those cyclists wanting to make their home maintenance tasks that bit more straightforward at a reasonable cost, I doubt you'll find better than this one.
Outstanding model. Directional running lights, carriage lights, and passengers are installed.
The sound functions are superb - cab sounds, engine start and rev when moving off, guard and driver buzzers, etc., not to mention general station sounds.
The conductive coupling rod carries power to the trailer car for the lights.
The livery quality is superb - I can't yet bring myself to think about weathering it.
Bachmann produces such highly detailed, quality models, that they are premium-priced. This was a bargain.
EXCELLENT Canon Speedlite 430EZ Shoe Mount Flash

Quality for Off Camera Flash
Older flashguns, which were top of the line with their respective film cameras, are still well worth having to use with digital gear. As a shoe mount flash, the metering probably won't work with modern digital cameras - particularly as Canon changed their protocol with the EX range of guns. However, why use it on a hotshot? Why use it on a Canon camera?
I have Fujifilm X cameras and Cactus V6 remote triggers. These triggers use the TTL functions of the flashgun, to provide remote, power managed, manual flash. They have built in profiles for a number of big name guns - this particular model being one of them. I attach the gun to a receiver, sit them on a light stand and set the power level I want - this model is only stoppable to 1/32, whereas more modern guns will step down to 1/128 power.
So I have a Fuji camera with older Nikon and Canon flashguns at a fraction of the cost of the latest models.
