Wires should be connected to the female part on arrival
I was able to connect the wires by taking a part the female part piece by piece then inserting the wires. It took 20 minutes total to figure out how to put the wires into the part. I lost the temp sensor the very next day as I did not secure it. It seem to have very accurate readings. But give it time to adjust. As I thought it wasn't working as it took about 12 hours to gradually change from -40* to 58* (current temp here).

it works well
While stuck in traffic, this cabin filter did an excellent job filtering the air as the car (smoke machine) in front of me produced mass quantities of burnt oil smoke from its exhaust.
