Real world review!
My previous is a Cannon XM2 and as many people interested in this Panasonic will probably be graduationg from this well known standard high domestic cam, I have used it as a comparison in places.
This AG-HMC41EU is very much a semi pro device(which is why I bought it,) and although it does point and shoot very well, to get the best out of it you need to read the manual and learn to use it step by step. The touch screen controls are ok but I use a stylus as it's accurate and fingers are not !
Settings for difficult subjects like spotlight lighting on a stage or back lit subjects do not come as an easily defined one push setting and have to be set up within any parameter and put onto one of 3 user designated buttons. This has the advantage of getting it just right but its not that quick or general.
These buttons are useful as its quick to swap between them as known rehearsed settings change during the work, however the Cannon XM series does have them built in to the menu and they also work extremly well as general settings and you can set up other parameters manually too. I miss them!
The actual picture quality in all modes from HD and lesser settings is superb and noise free even in quite low light setting.
The audio connector for the add on XLR mic adaptor box (circa £250) is a Panasonic special and although I am sure its possible to make your own add on box, finding this special plug is not available curtails any experiment..they have got you, well me so far..I am talking of trade cat here like Farnell, not Maplin!
You can connect external audio via a 3.5mm stereo jack, but again the XM does line input as well, so it is retrograde in this respect.
The lens is good and the zoom & control facilities excellent, but again I miss the 20 times zoom of the XM and worse, the digital zoom has to be switched in by the above mentioned user buttons, it is not an extension of pushing down on the lens zoom control as in the XM.
This is poor as it means you have to engage the user button and it jumps to 2x 5x or 10x digital zoom, so no smooth zooms from wide to closer than 12X. Really annoying and badly implemented and means not acceptable for one camera shooting of long material unless you want a jump in the zoom???.The digital zoom is pretty good though in lesser settings, also the full wide is exactly the same as the XM if you were wondering. The steady shot also works as well too.
There is no 'standard lanc input either, which means any add on adaptors for your Sony or Cannon add ons will not work. I have a twin zoom controller which avoids any shake on long shots. There are 2 jacks for zoom control and other options, but they are not standard Lanc, but there is no info on them either in the manual, so no doubt another Pana special!
Overall am very pleased with it, with the above exceptions, but if they matter to you then you have been warned!
You do get a lot of bang for your buck with this camera though and the cards work well and are availble cheaply from ebay suppliers. Its a bit odd having all this data on a tiny card and no motors whirring save the lens for confidence its happening, but then I have spent more time in the analogue world, so I guess I will get used to it!
Less to go wrong I hope!
One final gripe PANASONIC, print a manual to go with £2K kit.. its not on to have it just on a disc and print it yourself and try and bind it to keep with you for all those settings you need to check up on in the field.

Not as original.
Picture shows toothed belt, which is what the original was; what arrived was not toothed and as such tends to slip even with 'clutch cable adjustment.. There are no tooth splines on the pulleys, however the teeth in the belt would improve friction of drive. Have applied belt dressing which makes this just acceptable. It is a fairly long fiddley job to replace this belt, so disinclined to source a proper belt and seeing how it goes as it beds in.

It is a good quality product , shame the tube weight seems to be included as well as contents, as the tube is half empty on arrival, but total weight is 25G as advertised.
