All pros, no cons. The gold standard for mathematics for computer science textbooks; honestly, a gold standard for textbook writing, in general. Everything from the conversational tone, yet rigorous content, useful and hilarious margin notes, and fantastic typesetting should be looked at as what is possible when a writer and publisher work together to produce a quality textbook.
