Bought one for me, then one for my brother
Brother Bill and I have been John Hartford fans for years. He took me on my birthday one year to see Hartford at a small Michigan venue, and my husband and I went down to Detroit to see Hartford at Wayne State University. Recently I've been buying Hartford cds, mostly used, and as I come across one and listen to it, I sometimes keep my copy and buy a second copy for Bill. Even before I got to the portion of the cd where John himself comes in, I ordered a second copy.

Worth every penny
Recently heard "Please don't let me be misunderstood" redone another artist as part of the soundtrack to an episode of the TV series "Shades of Blue." Made me want to find the cd with Joe Cocker's original recording. Found, to my surprise, that I was totally unfamiliar with five of the ten cuts. The other five, however, I knew very well, and every one is a gem:
Feeling Alright
Just Like a Woman
Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood
With a Little Help From My Friends
I Shall Be Released
Those five cuts alone make the cd worth every penny.

Good pun
The whole thing is a hoot, but I especially love the "ballad" written by the Michale Ontkean character as sung by Merry Clayton. Had bought the movie used a number of years ago and we played it until it would no longer track. Had been looking for a replacement copy, but prices were a bit outrageous. It's recorded in the LP or SLP mode, so it takes the first bit of tape to get it to track correctly, but the belly laughs are worth the small aggravations.
