Charlie's country
This is one very sublime, humorous and yet beautiful film, featuring the now late David Gulpilil, a film by acclaimed director Rolf de Heer, takes us into a typical Australian Aboriginal community of the NT. Like we drop in and go walkabout with an aging Charlie (David Gulpilil), as he goes looking in search of the traditional ways of his culture despite being ill, rejecting whitefella tucker, and ways, a brutal, honest journey with David, suffering hunger and, we meet his friends, the usual discourse with the police, and the desire of freedom, in the traditional lands of his ancestors, This DvD will delight the film watcher, who appreciates the beauty of the outback, and other films like Baraka, showing that richness is not found solely in material possessions, but in the Human soul, and the Land. The importance of place, and culture, and self. Compelling film. Magnificent performance, more natural for David than acting, so, come walkabout for bush tucker, and meet the wonderful, beautiful indigenous Aboriginal characters of Charlie's lands. 5 Stars from me ☆☆☆☆☆
