It’s About Time!!!
As a student, collector, and dealer of 20th century American Art, I have enjoyed the work of Ms. Lee for decades. Melissa Wolfe, her fellow contributors, and the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, have compiled in “Simple Pleasures” one of the finest catalogs of an artist I have had the pleasure to view, read, and study. From the introductory pages to the final lithographic print, I felt like I was talking and visiting with Doris Lee one on one. A beautiful, book evoking the artistic majesty and humanity of a heroic artist!

Magnificent Display of Post Depression Art in America
Although this volume was prepared to accompany the 2008 Exhibit of the same name at the Georgia Museum of Art, it truly stands alone as perhaps the best summary of American Art of the WPA, post-depression era of the 1930s. Outstanding reproductions from the Schoen Collection represent social realism, the first major movement in American Art, with meticulous reproductions, commentary, and references. This book is at home on the coffee table or in the library of the serious enthusiast.

Community and Family
What could have been just another older man learns from young boy OR boy comes of age after meeting an interesting man IS INSTEAD a very likable comedy about a community of individuals fulfilling the role of family. Another under-appreciated effort by Hugh Grant and well directed by the Weitz Brothers.
