works fine but you have to format it.
i bought this drive for as i call it " a vaulted backup" i hook it up once-twice a year and backup my files. now to set (i use windows 7) it up go to system security then click administrative tools then click on computer management.then click on disk management find the drive click on the new one it should prompt you to initialize the new disk go with GUID mbr is a older format. then set it for basic if you want to use it for backup. some of the other partitions are for multiple disk use. i f you wonder hit the help at the top of the disk management page. if not google.

i have had my system up for nearly a year and these cables have worked flawlessly

very nice fits great
well made from abs plastic with brass inserts for the screws. note you have to get the screws. I went with #8 by 1.25 stainless button head screws x 8.
