Death by Supermarket

I found this book when I was looking for nutrition information on processed foods that are touted as healthful, but contain ingredients that are actually the opposite. The title Death by Supermarket caught my attention in a big way, and I decided to purchase the book. I thought the author had a lot of good information on how our foods are processed. She explains chemical processes used, and different terms for ingredients that can be confusing to the average person, among many other things about the food industry itself. I want as much information as I can on what I buy. If her book helps, I'm all for it.

Betty Crocker Boys and Girls cookbook

I love this cookbook! I got the original from my mom in 1957 when I was 7, and have used it for some of it's basic recipes ever since. I saw this copy, and got it because my original copy is falling apart. This has the BEST basic meatloaf recipe ever! All of my friends, and now my kids' friends just love it! That one recipe alone has been worth the price of the book, as everyone asks about it and wants it, even those who "don't like meatloaf"! Since it IS a kids' cookbook, and things are broken down to make it easy to learn to cook, it still holds up teaching the basics in a simple straightforward way. I think some of the updated versions may be a little more modern, but this one still works for me.

Great copy of the 1904 Singer Sewing Machine Manual!

I was so pleased to get this. I have the original instruction manual that came with the sewing machine, but it is crumbling away. I really need the large illustrations to guide and remind me on using my machine after being stored for awhile.
