55mm x 160mm Glass Thimble used with 1000ml,60/45,Soxhlet Extractor
This is the glass thimble that fits the largest Soxhlet. It is very large and requires a deft hand at placing it inside the Soxhlet chamber. I haven't seen anyone else making this large a thimble.
Advantage: It holds a large amount of product at one time.
The only negative comment that can be made is that because of its size, it is difficult to place inside the chamber. The Soxhlet chamber must be removed to let one TILT the chamber so that the thimble can SLIDE down one side. Otherwise the thimble has a good chance of breaking when placed.
A thimble of this size would greatly benefit from a hole near the top of the thimble, which would allow the thimble to be lowered into the chamber using a properly-formed long wire.
All our thimbles that I used before had at least one hole at the top to facilitate placing it.
