A Great Backup Printer
This compact printer uses water-resistant ink, a plus for bubble-jet printers. It also has an automatic document feeder, WiFi connection, data card slots for non-computer readout, and a number of other high-quality print features which make it an optimal choice for a small home office.
Epson, however, found that it was so "good" that folks kept buying this model instead of the cheaper ones in the newer line, so it no longer offers the XP-810 new. Also, an annoying generic Epson printer "feature" is the automatic "tilt" function, which may show up after several years of continuous use even if nothing is wrong with the device. This shutdown switch is activated after a certain number of documents are processed (a secret number built into the firmware). The printer can be reset only after service at an authorized Epson dealer, which may be in another state. The reset requires new ink pads, which Epson has conveniently discontinued, creating more pressure to purchase another printer. Ink can still be bought at Wal*Mart, however.
Other than that, a really great printer - but that is why I have two!
