Hate putting book down!
Loving this book, compelling plot

Unfortunately, weak plot + over explaining of everything
This is Tolkien's 1st writing effort and it shows. His son writes in voluminous detail about the characters and places in the book. It was just wading through a story with not much plot.
I am a BIG fan of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, so there's promise there, but I wouldn't recommend the book.

The Given Day
This book is for my reading group. It's written very well, and flows very well. It's set during WWI, and that influences everyone's lives. It's written from 3 men's viewpoints, one is Babe Ruth's. I'm sure the author will tie it all together at the end.
