your old vulcan 800 getting bouncy and them bumps knocking your spine hard. well its time to upgrade to a better shock. i
install was alot easier than i thought it would be.
take both side covers and inner covers off. get a 12 inch extension and 17 mm socket and 17 mm wrench take top bolt out and bottom bolt out and jack bike all the way up till back complete bottoms out and shock will slide right out threw bottom and this shock will slide right in. put top bolt in and finger tighten nut on top bolt. them lower bike to align the bottom bolt. put bottom bolt in and nut tighten all them up. set your 1 threw 5 rebound to your way. i went with 3. good ride with me and good ride with me and wife.
i set sag 1/2 inch with just me and with wife and me it sets inch lower so it works out.
now to the ride. i found the worse roads to test and it was amazing how this shock just soaks up the bumps and dont transfer that energy to the seat or bike. for a small bike it rises like a Cadillac. i figure ride be beating me till it broke in but i was wrong. it rides so good i can have a 12 once coke in cup holder and not wear it now. best part tire dont bottom out no more like it did with factory shock and spring turned all the way up and still bottom out. so for the money its very well worth it. for those who thinking about upgrade this shock needs to be on your list. now i use to hate riding my vulcan because of hard ride and was going to sell and get a harley but glad i bought this shock because now the ride is very enjoyable for me and when wife rides. i weigh 200 and wife 160 for those need a reference on the added weight and 2 saddle bags and the bike is the 800A with the 21 inch front wheel. hope this helps those who are as lost as me deciding if its worth the money to invest for your vulcan. i am glad i did.
