excellent little gift
This was a gift for a friend of mine who loves birds. She is very pleased with her set of measuring spoons, and is going to have a holder made for them so she can display them on her kitchen wall. Great buy. Thank you!

quite fine, quite fine
Certainly different than Beverly's books! I was expecting an Amish character or two to show up and play parts in this story, but there were none at all. I have read so many of Beverly's books that it took me till a third of the way through before I stopped looking for them. So then, right up front: there are no Amish characters in this book. Another big difference was humor, namely it appeared in this book and was a nice surprise.
The character of Michelle, Laura's mother, was really well written, I thought. This cookie was a witch on wheels, let me tell you. I was so relieved when little Laura ended up with Jessica. Whew. Andy's mother Susan was another head case, one of those mothers who can't resist tinkering in her adult child's love life. Again, really well written. And cowboy Bill. You really can't get enough of Bill. He's truly a gem. All the characters who were pivotal to the story were unique and cleanly written, each with his/her own distinct voice. A very enjoyable read, though a sad story, IMO. I guess I was hoping for a happier ending. Still, let's hear more from you, David, 'kay?
