My long lost "Mini-Stubby"!
I've been looking for a replacement for my well-used, lost/surrendered, Gerber "Mini-Stubby" for a while... All the "modern" replacements I researched, while nice, didn't have the comfort/familiarity/weight I'd grown used to for 20yrs...
I bought two (just in case), so I'll never be caught w/o one again (unless traveling by air).

1989 Volkswagen Transporter Doppel-kabiner

I hadn't originally planned on buying one so soon, but when I learned that this particular example was up for auction, I had to bid on it. I had a Vanagon back in highschool/college, and loved how versatile it was. I've owned/driven numerous VW's before/since, and had been thinking of eventually replacing my beloved Toyota 4x4 PU's, and the Doka suited my needs perfectly.
The equipment/configuration of this vehicle is perfect. It is large on the interior, so I can fit plenty of adult-sized friends, and my two dogs have plenty of room to "spread out" and not intrude on each other's territory during rides. It has AWD, so I'll never be nervous about driving it in Michigan winters. It also has a TDI conversion, giving it surprising efficiency for a vehicle w/ it's size/weight, and lack of aerodynamics. Best of all, it gets a LOT of attention. In the short time I've owned it, I've been approached by many complete strangers asking all about it... I hate to admit it, but I love the attention. I own a few other "rare" (modern) VW products, but neither of them gets as many stares and double-takes as the Doka.
