Great budget performer
Pros: Light weight, compact size, good field of view, solid construction, sharp image, good color rendition, very sharp images on Sony A7 III, affordable, and fast silent autofocus.
Cons: no manual focus switch on lens, sharpness falls off beyond f16, and lens hood could be larger.

Auto Focus is a Fantastic Feature over manual 500mm lenses.
I have waited a long time to find an affordable 500mm AF lens for my Sony A700. The wait was worth it. I spend a lot of time outdoors and this lens is light and compact and easy to carry anywhere. It shoots clear pictures on a mono pod and the lens is the equivalent to a 700+ lens on the A700. I don't find the spot meter-only operation a llimit to the way I shoot pictures in any way. The A700's internal image stabilization works well with this lens and my best images are during the "magic hours" and bright sunlight. Crank up ISO for overcast days. If you buy, make sure the filter lenses come with the lens. It takes practice to shoot moving objects. It's a good lens.
