Stunning
My favourite books of all time. Beautiful and lyrical writing that continues to inspire every time I pick it up. It’s the sort of writing that I wish I was capable of that only a poet could create; every word is carefully chosen with a sort of chiselled perfection. Amazing.

Brilliant
Much better than the Ken Burns (Ric’s brother) version. Russell Baker’s voice is perfect and the sequences of the landscape and visual interpretation of the story poetic genius and heightens the cruelty and sadness of the destruction of a people and way of life.

Essential
A really interesting account of a much overlooked part of Irish history setting the various actions in context. Essential reading.
