If you can't weld, don't buy MTD. or pay someone a lot to repair it soon.
MTD mowers have a badly made DIFF, Made out of tin instead of steel. They get play and movement to the point where they lock up and goes POP. Won't drive forward or backwards, (DIFF falls apart). This I knew before I bid on it. I welded the axles solid - bypassing the DIFF, and it is a very good mower now @ $400,....love it.

If you have a back problem it saves getting up to bend over to press 1 button.
