Version A isn't like Version B
I bought two Protocols. I didn't know that there was a difference but there is a Version A and B.(maybe more). Anyway the A seems twitchier than then B. A cannot recover from vertical drops nearly as well if at all. The props on A are thinner than B. The prop cages are slightly heavier.

Taking the clunkiness out of the MAK
It is quite a good upgrade to the Makarov. It works flawlessly and makes shooting the Mak a joy for both the ergonomics and loading a magazine. The directions on the package isn't in my opinion the easiest way to attach the release lever but it gives the general idea how to do it.
I say it isn't a good value only for the fact that the Mak isn't really worth much on the market. If it is your only gun it is well worth the investment.
