Good quality camera at a very good price.
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich This is my second Finepix S series camera. I like the way it fits in my hand and that the controls and shutter release are logically placed. The best feature is that there is a second display so the camera can be used as if it were a SLR, single lens reflex. I don't know of any other camera in this price range that has that feature. When turned off, the camera is an easy to carry size. The camera uses AA batteries which are easy to find and inexpensive. The camera also takes good quality video and has several formats to choose from.

An outstanding, easy reading, well researched book about the naval battles around the island of Guadalcanal in the second half of 1942. I don't think many know that more American sailors died during the battle of Guadalcanal than US Army and Marine Corps deaths combined. The book looks at what happened from the highest levels, the American president and the Japanese emperor, all the way to junior seaman patching holes or stopping bleeding or just being scared. As a retired sailor, I feel this book should be read by all sailors past and present, both for the history and as an explanation as to why so much effort is put into damage control/firefighting training.

Good camera, great price
I have owned similar Fujifilm cameras for the last 6 years. I bought the S8300 when I found it was almost the same price as getting my S8200 repaired. The S8300 is considered a bridge camera, it bridges the gap between basic point-and-shoot and Digital SLR cameras. Here are the main features that I like about this camera.
First would be the 42X zoom lens. The pictures of Mount Rushmore were both taken from the Norbeck overlook on Iron Mountain road, one at 1X and the second at 40X. Also works well for landscape, animal studies, and sports. The pier picture was taken from about 2 1/2 miles away.
Second would be the electronic viewfinder. This small LCD screen, above the main 3" screen, allows you use the camera as if it had thru the lens viewing. This makes a big difference when trying to track a football player or a hummingbird. There is an adjustment for this small screen so you can wear your glasses while using it.
Third is tons of little stuff. extensive, easy to use menu. ISO 12800 light sensitivity which allows pictures at very low light levels. focus, zoom control, and shutter release is all done by same finger. use AA batteries. best performance is when using a Class 10 SDHC memory card.
