Extremely well done thriller
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich A film with a story more relevant than ever. Well-crafted by the writers and director John Sturges, this story of a US biological warfare product falling into the wrong hands has everything a good movie should have: plenty of suspense, believable performances and an expert production. Today's slapdash movie makers could learn a thing or two from this excellent film.

Beautiful craftsmanship
After doing the research and finally purchasing one of these Mauviel roasting pans I can confirm that it is just about the finest thing of its kind ever made. It's darned heavy, just so you know, but the results from using it are just wonderful. Very, very highly recommended.

David Lean's greatest film?
David Lean admirers generally pick "Lawrence of Arabia" as his greatest film. There is much to admire in it for sure, but I think for sheer power, craftsmanship and brilliance of execution I would suggest his two Dickens adaptations are his greatest films. I would further posit that "Oliver Twist" is his best film, period.
Those who are only familiar with the ridiculously censored American cut of this film would do themselves a favor by purchasing the uncut Criterion edition. When the cut scenes are restored it raises the film to the level of masterpiece. The characters, the sets and photography, the editing, the music, the performances are all equally perfect. I would say that if you want to know what movies were once capable of you could do no better than to see this.
In buying this disc I was served well by the seller and is one that I can recommend.
