If you don't have any telephoto lens jet - get this one
This lens is very sharp and has a lot of contrast. I can't tell on pictures, which is sharper, this one or my 85mm micro lens, which costs 500 dollars.
VR works very well.
The downsides of this lens - it is about third of a stop darker, than it should on a particular f-stop, at least compared to my micro lens. In other words, when you shoot at f/4, you are actually shooting at f/4.5
Other one is that the close focusing distance is on a far side and does not change with zooming (in my opinion). It has acceptable magnification ratio for a non-macro lens, some 1:4, or 1:5, but this is at 200mm. At 55mm, you have to stay as far away as with 200mm - for portraits, I sometimes pumped on this limit.
These are the things to be aware of. Fantastic lens, for the price. When you don't have a similar lens jet, don't hesitate to get this one.
