This is an essential volume for anyone who is seriously interested in Bible studies. The introductory material for each book is extremely helpful and adds great insight into your reading. This coupled with the copious additions beyond the specific biblical analysis helps the reader to gain an understanding of the larger culture in which the individual books were originally drafted. For example, there is an insightful section on Hebrew Poetry, The Synoptic Problem, History of Israel or Pauline Theology to name a few. Though most of our Bibles will address some of the same topics, I have never found one that addressed such a range--and all supported with valid research. This Biblical Commentary is most comprehensive and is a excellent addition to a persona library.
