Big disappointment
A big disappointment. I bought this to do a system backup for a Windows 7 PC, because the existing backup was hogging too much space on another external hard drive, but received a message that this new drive was unsuitable for the task. As yet, I have no idea why. Size is not the issue. Maybe some third party software will do the job that Microsoft's will not, but it will take time and effort to find out.

Stimulating contribution to Dark Age history
Excellent book, explaining how the various "Dark Age" dykes blocked Roman roads to protect the various ethnic enclaves later called counties. The author knows his stuff militarily, and explains why the dykes faced in particular directions and were situated at particular places in the landscape. When he writes that the Anglians did this, and the Saxons did that, and the Romano-British did something else, be prepared to consider alternative scenarios. He knows a fair bit about place names, but uncritically accepts some old linguistic mistakes, which lead him to misunderstand Arthur.
