An invaluable resource that documents the lies that are Um Yung Doe
This book is primarily for those who have ever been part of this organization, those who have not been there will get less out of it. I was involved from 1984-1987 at the Worth Il. school were at least 3 of the instructors over that time period were among those convicted and sent to prison. Fortunately for me, my reasons for studying martial arts were my own, and when Chung Moo Quan/Chung Moo Doe/Um Yung Do did not supply what was needed, I left. I saw lots of what is described in this book though, people of weak will who had their money and a portion of their lives taken from them by a ruthless con man and his dupes, all to finance his lifestyle and pretensions. You have to understand one thing: THIS IS NOT A MARTIAL ART, OR A SCHOOL THEREOF. IT IS A PERSONALITY CULT. THE CREATION OF AN EVIL MAN AND IT"S ONLY PURPOSE IS TO GATHER MONEY FOR HIM FROM THOSE WHO KNOW NO BETTER. BY THE TIME YOU LEARN THIS, IF YOU DO, YOUR PURPOSE TO HIM HAS BEEN SERVED. The parts that amazes me is that this organization still exists, yet to foist it's made up "styles" and ineffective fighting techniques upon the unwary who wish to study a Traditional Martial Art that is something special. That desire is used against them by John C. Kim AKA his many aliases. This book would be an excellent gift for anyone who takes "lessons" from these people, or who is considering doing so. Joe Smith has done us all a favor by writing this book. I moved on to real martial arts and training in the years after I started there, but others were not so fortunate. John C. Kim is truly an evil man for the damage he has done to thousands of people who sought to better themselves. Years lost, family and friends pushed aside, true opportunities in life passed by in favor of lies. You cross the threshold of a CMQ/CMD/OYD school seeking knowledge at your peril. Take it from one who has been there, nothing true/right/correct awaits you.
