Interesting take on history
I like the authors take on history but was really disappointed that she had the mother Maria Carrillo as deceased from the opening pages. Maria was an outstanding woman who after her husbands death moved her family to Sonoma, California where they contributed greatly to California history. I feel the book cover alone sells the story.

Women's take on history is worth it's weight in gold.
Being a guy I know we males look at the big picture and as this book shows, we need the gals to fill in the great details. I happen to be a detail guy and when I started reading the book it blew my mind that this was historical data that makes the telling much more real. I highly recommend this book and really believe that it's often fine details that a reader can grab onto and help understand, get close to, and best of all remember what you read.
