great value
I bought this knife because I heard it was a good value, and I am not dissapointed. The size is perfect for what I was looking for. It is large enough for reasonably tough camp use, but still works well at carving tasks. Some people don't like the recurve blade for sharpening, but it is easy with a rod style sharpener. The only negatives are the very slick handle scales and the fact that the grind on mine was somewhat uneaven. Being both cheap and unconcerned with asthetics, I put some cheap grip tape on the handle. It works great. The grind was sharp, but closer to the edge at one point on one side than the rest. This may make sharpening difficult later, but it works well so far. The slippery handles are a well-known issue with this knife and easy to fix. The uneven grind is an individual issue to my knife and not entirely unexpected at the price. If you want a functional mid-size knife at a great price, I still recommend it.
