A lot of fun, with colorful, fast and addictive driving action.
I'm a big fan of the Game Boy and also old cartoons, so this was a natural fit for me. The game is a cross between Road Rash and Mario Kart, where you zoom through different locations picking up speed boosts and weapons and shooting the other drivers. Whenever you see that a game is developed by Fernando Velez and Guillaume Dubail, you know it's going to be technically amazing. Wacky Races is no exception, the graphic effects are incredible compared to other racing games for the GBC. The road looks almost like the "mode 7" effects found in 16 bit systems, and the roadside obstacles and character sprites scale smoothly as you pass them on the road. The characters are well drawn and the backgrounds are colorful and really add to the cartoon atmosphere. The music is fun and bouncy, it sounds like it was made on a Commodore 64.
The bad side of the game is that it can become repetitive once you play it for a while, and the different cars sort of feel the same. There also isn't much variation in the driving, you basically wind along a long straight road, hitting the same few curves over and over again just like in Road Rash.
Overall I find it to be a lot of fun, with colorful, fast and addictive driving action.

Kung Fu Heroes on the Gameboy
Ninja Boy for Game Boy is a alternate version of Kung Fu Heroes on the NES, it isn't like the NES version of Ninja Boy. The game has you punching and jumping on enemies and punching blocks to reveal power ups and bonus rooms. The action is pretty fun and frantic, unfortunately the gameplay gets pretty repetitive quickly. I had bought this game when it came out & traded it in because I found it confusing & random, but if you play it after you play Kung Fu Heroes it makes a lot more sense. These days I do pop this game in sometimes for some quick fun, but it doesn't hold my attention too long. I had the same problem with KFH, but if you really like that game, you will like this.

An average action platform game
This game has it's moments, with it's detailed sprawling levels and fast action/platforming, but the game just feels very average. All the elements that make up Turrican are there, the energy beam, weapon powerups, the roll-bomb, so it delivers the experience to fans of the game just fine and has good music as well. The graphics & enemies just aren't as interesting as better action platformers for the GB such as Operation C. Overall it's just average IMO.
