Not really cardboard. No stiffness. Flimsy. More like thin lightweight paper card stock.

The button is OK but the pin attachment very bad.
The pin attachment is extremely difficult to use. It is very small and rotates (very bad). You need baby fingers to hook and unhook it. The rotating feature of the safety pin is very bad. Should be stationary. Will not buy again. Nice button but attachment pin makes it worthless to me.
