The forests MUST be cared for in an intellegent way, not on emotion.
The book confirms the fact that forests need to be thinned not left to produce to many trees per acre. Confirms also an extensive 2003 Forestry report of the overgrowth of Ponderosa per acre and the weakening and disease prone condition of too many trees crammed in a limited space. Not to mention that fire danger increases tremendously when there is severe overgrowth.

1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Actually saw the film many years ago. It keeps you on the edge and, something so lacking in films today...the whole family could watch it. It's also interesting to see Albuquerque as it was almost 60 years ago. Great film classic. To many of today's films aren't worth the time and effort it would take to burn them. The scene where he shoots the helicopter down would, today be made into a violent and bloody massacre scene and the pilots killed...he showed his humanity by not doing that and it seemed he really felt remorse for doing so.
Kirk Douglas was a fine actor and Carroll O'Conner became a favorite in his different roles.
