Great source for native dye plant information
the book was more useful than I expected. It is a really good guide to the sources for dyes and what they were used for in the Southwest.

Birds & Bees is Beautiful
I bought the book for the artwork which is exquisite. Stermer takes a mixed media approach to his illustrations which make each plate something special. He covers sex, reproduction and rearing of young animals through pictures. The whole book is tastefully and thoughtfully done. It makes an excellent companion to his Vanishing Flora book. This would be a great gift for someone studying scientific illustration as well as art.
