Dorothy Dandridge could really act!
And, she could act at singing very well. I think I had read that her and Belafonte's singing voices were dubbed by pro singers. Further, she was
quite attractive. Opera buffs may enjoy this movie. It's a remake of Carmen, basically. The young Harry Belafonte was no slouch as an actor. When a kid, I had known of only his singing prowess. There was more to him than vocal chops. Well-written script (or libretto, if you will).

if drector Yamanaka had lived to be an old man, i think today, he'd be ranked up there with the likes oa ozu , kurosawa, and mizoguchi.

awesome peformances, but short on biographical material.
dvd shows Ms. Moffo in several live performances and an opera movie or two. Breathtaking singing along with stunning looks.
