From the Deck of a Carrier
This book is a first hand account of the battle of Midway from the Japanese perspective written nine years after the battle took place. The book is a well organised easy read that puts you among the planners as they debate the plan, among the commanders as they sail, behind the pilots as they attack, and in the bridge of the carriers to wrestle with the limited information available to make decisions that will decide the outcome of the battle.
The authors Parshall and Tully in 'Shattered Sword' (2005) make the case that there are eight myths concerning the battle of Midway. Some of the myths are attributed to the authors of this book. Consider that this book was written some time after the battle, mainly from the perspective of Fuchida. There may be inaccuracies due to the time that passed, or due to the authors covering for shortcomings.
If you are interested in the battle of Midway, I suggest that you read this book. The authors lived on the ships you will read about. You can't get any closer than that.

Functional Knife, Poor Finish
1 von 2 finden das hilfreich I received a new HCKT Frontier Micarta knife. The blade and handle were a good length and shape for a woods belt knife. The blade was thick and very sturdy, functional, you could do a lot with it.
My only objection was the poor finish for a $30 knife. The hand guard had machining marks and a stain, you could feel the micarta scale layers, the logo button was raised from the handle surface, and the tang stood proud of the scales.

A hands-on, straightforward approach to archery.
The book is well organized and approaches the sport of archery in a logical manner from beginner to competitor.
