More versatile than the name implies
This product is amazing, it exceeded my expectation. I purchased it planning for the upcoming gardening season, thinking that at minimum I can propagate and make a bunch of herbs and vegetables. But since there is not much to propagate in January, I chose to try out the cloneking in a different capacity. I replaced the firm neoprine plugs it came with with soft less dense packing foam (sheets of gray porous material used to for packaging objects and such). I then cut them to shape of the cloneking (i actually made squares, since i can compress the foam-like material). I then cut a slit halfway into the chunk and put various seeds into each one. Then inserted these various seeded pods into the cloneking, labeled, and got it going 24/7 for a few weeks now. I have a number of seeds that have sprouted (some probably failed due to poor quality, as some stuff I have is years old kept in the freezer): i have zucchinis, tomatoes, basil, eggplants, etc going already.
I also had a hydroponic system by a big name overpriced company. I took small plants out of that one (before they grow too large to be removed) and placed them into the cloneking. They survived and live on happily since then. In other words, instead of an expensive 100+ dollar 6-slot hydroponic system, I now have 2x36site clonekings that are capable of supporting actual plants, not just cuttings for propagation. Granted, the roots are getting "busy" but an unexpected funny part of aeroponic Cloneking is that gravity forces the root to be more organized (at the cost of not being as spread out or collecting more nutrients, perhaps - but plants look OK). I have parsley, dill, basil, oregano, kale going as well.
Once outside garden warms up, I hope to have a ton of plants ready to transplant and hope to enjoy earlier harvests as a result.
