4.2 K&N Kit Bad Engineering
The K&N Intake and filter kit for a 2003 Ford F-150 4.2 V-6 is badly engineered and designed. The pieces are not labeled, and instructions are unclear. As an electrical engineer myself, it took nearly 2 hours to figure out. The heat shield is held down with 1 small nut, as the 2 other bolts and grommets do not provide any securement of the piece. The airflow sensor contacts the heat shield, and the heat shield crushes OEM wiring which is located under it's mounting location. It may work and perform as intended, but fitment is poor and it looks poorly engineered.
