Waypoints to becoming an American Indian man
This is a good book for giving a brief idea of what the American Indian boy did on his way to becoming a man in the days before and after the white man came. There are short accounts by different Indians of what they did at the various stages of their lives. The book has extensive color photos of items of clothing, gear and some black-and-white pictures of a few Indians. There are also Indian accounts of the battle of Little Big Horn by a participant, and one of Wounded Knee by a survivor. Be aware that these accounts are not for the faint of heart. They are not the whitewashed sterile accounts you read in the history books. Several tribes are represented in here, but they are all Plains Indians. If you want Coastal or Woodland Indians, this isn't the book for you. The photos are first rate and show all manner of items used by the Indian in his daily life, including shirts with quillwork, rawhide shields, several Shoshone hide paintings, leggings and pouches, pipes, bows and arrows, etc. The book doesn't give any of the provenance of the items other than to denote which tribe it came from.

A good book and well-researched but has some issues.
This is a good book that covers an interesting series of events in the life of a Sheepeater/Mountain Shoshone tribe. The author did a very good job of presenting the facts without entering in any bias or opinions. It is written somewhat from the White Man point of view. It was enlightening to read the newspaper editorial snippets from the time, from the Idaho newspaper. The editor or editors appeared to want the Indians exterminated in the worst way. Makes me wonder what heinous crime they committed against the Indians to so desperately want them all buried. There are photos of Shoshone and White Men of the time and a fascinating photo of a woven mat lodge that I haven't seen anywhere else. There are a few detracting things about the book. The man on the cover is not Shoshone - he is Bannock. There are few actual quotes from the Indians, presumably because the Whites at the time didn't actually write much of it down. There is an extensive list of references in the back. I like the book and thank the author for taking the time to track all of this down.

Cover says it all - a complete history
The book is a history not only of the aircraft, but of many of the people and places involved with it. I'd estimate that 3/4 of the pages outside the appendices have illustrations or photographs. It isn't as detailed in images as a walk-around, but if you aren't a scale modeler it shouldn't matter. One of the appendices is a compilation of the fate of every FW 200 made. A worthwhile addition to my collection of FW 200 materials.
