You feel like you're there...
I'm going cruising and I wanted someone's first hand experience... I've only just skimmed through the book, which was an excellent deal, BTW... but it appears to be exactly what I was looking for. Time will tell, I only just got it.

It's a simple title... it draws you in thinking one way, but you leave it thinking in new ways.
I've read this book at three or four different times in my long life... and every time I am more and more disappointed with mankind... and that the world is the way it is now when this book shows a far more intelligent way to live in harmony with ourselves and with the planet. I am reading it again for probably the fifth time... one of my favorite parts is the use of hypnosis to do a surgery when no anesthesia was available. I think it could be a wonderful tool that is just not used in our pill-popping modern world. I enjoy how the main character gradually changes his outlook and perceptions but is not surprised by the way things go at the end. As a "civilization" we leave a lot to be desired. The earth should be, and could be, an endlessly renewable paradise, but humans just won't change. They choose grasping greed over peaceful co-existence with Nature every time. Why is it that we humans pick the lovliest plaes to have a picnic, and then descecrate it with our trash and garbage that we leave behind as we drive away??? We are doomed to commit the same sins over and over. I never grow tired of reading this book!
