  After purchasing, the seller contacted me and told me the item would not be shipped due to not having the item in stock, but they did not cancel or refund my order and I could not cancel my order either as eBay told me it was “too late” to cancel and I’d have to wait over 30 days to take any further action, so I opened a case through PayPal and got a direct refund that way.

  I could have canceled it myself without informing them of the inventory, but I politely asked them to do so and recommended that I cancel it myself. However, since you attempted to cancel late, buyer cancellation is not possible in eBay's system. If you contact the seller at this time, the seller will cancel it. I absolutely cannot agree with your opinion of ignoring eBay's most basic purchase cancellation procedures and posting bad feedback as if bragging. Why didn't you contact the seller? I a
