I almost sliced the item when I cut the tape on the box with my box-cutter knife - I was not expecting the item to be pressed up against the cut-line for the box-tape like that.   I was shipped the wrong item. Apparently the seller was shipping two different shifters but a mix-up caused my shifter to go to someone else and their shifter to come to me. The seller seems to have integrity to see about alerting me when she gets the return from the other person so I can get the shifter I need. Hoping it happens soon. The other buyer has not been johnny-on-the-spot to return "my" unit.
