If eBay doesn't allow asking me for a total (like with certain sales promotions), you may need to pay the individual shipping charges. For instance, combining 2 big stacks of heavy records into a bigger, heavier stack doesn't usually result in much savings. (On the other hand, combining 2 or 3 individual records usually does save you money.) Then there's the case of trying to ship 2 or more lighter, but large items together. Sometimes the box required is so big that oversize postage charges make combining impractical.
