Friends of the Lubbock (TX) Library (FOL) support the city/county library system in its mission to local residents.
The FOL manages gifts and grants received for the benefit of the library.
Our primary activity is processing books and other items donated by the public reselling them to raise funds to cover budgetary shortfalls from the city/county. We function with the generous help of over 150 volunteers giving >25,000 hours a year. None of the board or officers are compensated.

The Friends of the Lubbock Public Library (FOL), founded in 1967, is a non-profit organization that raises funds in support of the Lubbock Public Library System. FOL provides financial support and literary programs for community members of all ages. The major source of revenue to support FOL's contribution to the Library comes from the sale of items that have been donated by the community. Volunteers work to sort through thousands of books, finding the best home possible for each of them. While we hold sales at our physical site several time a year, the money derived from our sales on eBay goes a long way in helping us meet our mission.
In addition to the sale of books, FOL also donates books to multiple non-profit organizations throughout the local community.
