In an age before overnight delivery, the pushcarts of “rag-and-bone” men were a familiar sight on bustling city streets. Rag-and-bone peddlers rescued the discarded debris of an increasingly wasteful society, seeing value where others didn’t, and found new life for the leftovers of careless city dwellers.
