This lens is ideal for sports and wildlife photography. The newly designed optical system has one fluorite element and two UD-glass elements to obtain high resolution and high contrast. Also, the minimum focusing distance was reduced to 18 ft. (5.5m). Used Canon 600mm F4 ll
I recently purchased a used Canon 600mm Prime Lens and have been shooting with it for 2 weeks. The build and image quality are amazing and I love the Lens, but just a cautionary note! This thing is HUGE, especially with the sun hood, and it is HEAVY! I am a big strong guy but it gets really hard to hand hold after an hour of crawling through mud to get close to shorebirds! A tripod would probably help but just isn’t my style, I creep and crawl using all available cover and terrain. So in summary, a wonderful Lens but not for the feeble or faint-hearted!

Awsome
I love the images I am able to capture with it - great clarity and sharpness, responsive focus, and permits me the working distance to keep animals at ease yet put me in their domain. I can't wait to use this in my floating photography blind to capture duck and other waterfowl and wading bird images.

Top of the line lens.
