The smc FA zoom 80mm~200mm f/2.8 lens is a moderate to long telephoto lens flexible enough to use in a variety of situations including sports and portrait photography. It provides a maximum aperture setting of 2.8 throughout the zoom range and incorporates a high-refraction extra low dispersion (ED) glass element to produce a high-resolution, high-contrast image with true-to-life color rendition. Like all PENTAX lenses, this lens features smc coating to maximize light transmission and produce sharp, high-contrast images while minimizing flare and ghost imaging.Product Identifiers

Possibly the best zoom lens Pentax has ever produced.
Possibly the best zoom lens Pentax has ever produced. Superb image quality and rock solid mechanical construction. Built at a time when lenses were made of glass and steel, despite coming up to 30 years old, it's still able to match or beat similar lenses available from Pentax or other manufacturers today. The 'no compromise' design includes both internal zoom and internal focus - so the lens does not change in length at any zoom or focus setting and provides minimal opportunity for ingress of dust and moisture (despite not being weather-sealed like Pentax's current 'Star' lenses). The power zoom is a great feature and it is a shame that some of the more advanced power zoom features (eg. image tracking and zoom clip) are no longer supported by Pentax DSLRs.
