A GREAT Movie
This is a GREAT musical. Of course any musical with Gene Kelly in it is a great musical; and to top it off the all of the music and the lyrics are all originals done by the Gershwin brothers, George & Ira (music & lyrics respectively). The directory is Judy Garland's husband, Vincent Minnelli. It's the traditional story of a starving artist in Paris (Kelly), two guys (Gene Kelly, Georges Guétary) in love with the same beautiful girl (Leslie Caron), and who's going to get the beautiful young girl. It's set in post WWII Paris where there are a lot of American vets who have decided to stay in Paris before going back to the US to get their feet back under them. Kelly is an artist who has decided to paint in Paris before going back to the States. It is well written, both script and music, and well directed. It is bright and colorful and will keep your interest, despite the fact the actors and actresses will occasionally burst into song during the course of the movie.. This movie comes from MGM during its Golden Era, as well as coming from the Arthur Freed production company, which is responsible for some of the best musicals from the MGM Studios.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

A Trip Back to Another Time
I had forgotten how great a dancer Gene Kelly was and had never seen Leslie Caron dance -- a lovely combination, but Oscar Levant stole the show for me between his roles as pianist and comedian. A Lucky, Dancing American in a Fantastic City.
Saw this film years 60 years ago and saw the stage play presentation recently and didn't remember some of the serious stuff the plot was about. It's there in the film, but I must have missed it as a teenager. I enjoyed this film very much. IBestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
