The Shure BETA 98H/C Microphone is an instrument mic that can be clamped onto wind instruments or onto the rim of percussion instruments. This mic has an integrated gooseneck and ratcheting swivel joint that lets the mic stay securely in position once placed. The isolation shock-mount reduces transmission of key-noise made by the instrument.

Excellent stage mic for trombone
After a few gigs and rehearsals with the Shure Beta 98 H/C on my tenor and alto trombones, I'm very pleased. I've been using it in a funk band, and we play on some very tight stages in small clubs with other instruments, monitor speakers, amps, and main speakers very loud and very close by, and I've had no feedback problems, and isolation has been great. Once the sound engineer sets the gain on the mixer, I can adjust the angle of the mic to change the tone quality as needed, 90-degrees off the axis of the bell for a natural sound, or more on line with the bell axis for more edge. I can hear myself much more clearly in the mix than with a vocal mic like an SM57 or 58, and it's nice to get the mic stand out of the way of the slide. It's also easy to switch silently between horns during the performance.

Perfect horn mics, no loss of sound
Love these mics for the horns. Direct sound, no matter what direction they are pointing, or what choreography you want to program. A sound man's dream. And no batteries to go weak.

Does not mount accroding to manufacturer placement techniques
1. The clip, does not clip onto the bell of my didgeridoo 2. For mounting on trumpet (brass) it is recommended to mount from 30 - 90cm away from the bell of the instrument. The adjustable gooseneck is 15cm long. It is not therefor possible to mount the mic as required. This is the most expensive clip-on mic I could find from shure. Considering it wont clip-on to my didge, nor can it reach the placement requirements for a trumpet. I give this mic a big fat ZERO stars.

Versitile Microphone
The mic works great on my sax and plugged into my existing SHURE wireless system with no problems. I have used it for months now and it still works great!
