A Must for the Scrabble Enthusiast
This CD is perfect for "old school" Scrabble players. It replaced one that I had for over 30 years that finally decided not to work any longer. Great for those that don't want to play on-line. Excellent adaptation, but beware the technical gotchas
Hasbro Scrabble features an extremely capable, configurable and very fun (!) automated opponent named Maven, that really makes the game worthwhile. But this version from 1996 won't play on NT-based Windows operating systems (it's made for Windows 3.1 or 95), so running it outside of an emulated environment will be extremely difficult. Getting the graphics to display correctly—even within a virtual machine—will require even more effort, since many virtualizers no longer include the infrastructure needed to run the game well (i.e. guest additions for those operating systems). With effort and configuration (or an exisiting Windows 95 or 98 virtual machine with properly configured graphics) the game can be made to run quite well. fun to play with various skill levels
